Welcome to Day 1 of the 31 Days to Reset Your Life program! It is designed to be a virtual life coaching experience that will equip you with all the tools you need to reset your life.
Today, we begin. For the next 31 days, you will be working to develop your inner self and create new possibilities for your life. Each day of the program will require you to complete an exercise that will help you get back on track to becoming the happy, healthy, successful person you were meant to be.
To get the most out of this challenge, I suggest you set aside time each day to read the #31DayReset emails, complete the assignments and share your results on your blog or over in the comments on the HBW blog. Simply being a passive lurker will not yield quite as powerful a return as being active with your fellow participants! I look forward to your personal growth this month - just as much as my own.Today, we begin. For the next 31 days, you will be working to develop your inner self and create new possibilities for your life. Each day of the program will require you to complete an exercise that will help you get back on track to becoming the happy, healthy, successful person you were meant to be.
The following three-part exercise will help to prepare you fully for the month ahead.
Estimated Time to Complete: 30-45 minutes
Choose Your Reset Notebook
To participate fully in the exercises for the month, you will need a dedicated, blank notebook for the exercises. You will be using it everyday to record your responses, insights and "aha moments" throughout the challenge. It can be a notebook you already have but haven't used yet or it can be a brand new notebook that you buy specifically for this challenge. If you have a blog, you can use your online space to keep track of the exercises, but due to the nature of the challenge, you may not want to share EVERY little detail of what comes to your mind during this self-discovery process. So, I recommend that everyone designate a physical notebook to go along with your online tools.
My Reset Notebook is a little red Moleskine that I absolutely love. It looks sophisticated and "official," like it holds important words and plans. It's also convenient - small enough to fit in my purse to whip out whenever I get inspired to write, yet sturdy enough to last me a long time without the pages falling out.
Choose a Personal Mantra
A mantra is a positive phrase or affirmative statement that you say to yourself for the purpose of motivation or encouragement. This could be your favorite quote, proverb, spiritual truth or religious saying. (If you don't know where to look for inspiring quotes, I always find great ones on The Daily Love website or the happyblackwoman.com website) For this exercise, you'll want to choose one that represents what you hope to become or believe by the end of this challenge. Then, write it on the first page of your Reset Notebook as a kind of blessing on everything that will be written and accomplished this month.
My personal mantra is: "Love is power."
Choose a Theme Song
Choose a theme song for the coming month. Imagine what song you would want following you around during your daily journey to reset your life. It should be a song that brings about some kind of motivation or inspiration for you. Play this song every morning (or evening) as you begin your day or in the background as you reflect on and complete each assignment.
My theme song is "Closer" by Goapele. I play it most mornings to start my day off on a positive note. It's one of my favorite songs ever and continues to affirm me in my journey to pursue lifelong happiness and success!
Take Action and Reflect: When you've completed this three-part exercise, please share your personal mantra and theme song with us in the comments! Also, be sure to tell us what kind of notebook you chose for the challenge and why.
My Mantra: "My past may shape my experiences, but my present is a gift. My future is my own, shaped by my faith, my desires, and my beliefs about ME. Every moment is an opportunity to become a step closer to who I want to be.
ReplyDelete----->FORWARD------>
My Theme Song: "Private Party" by India Arie. It just serves as a reminder that I have to celebrate myself regardless of the circumstances that life hands me. There is NO love like SELF love.
My RYL Notebook: I'm using a beat up little notebook that I've had for about 6 or 7 years. I keep my poetry in this notebook, my goals...it holds everything that is near and dear to me. So I thought it'd be fitting to use it for this too! :)
My Mantra is: "Once we recognize what it is we are feeling, once we recognize we can feel deeply, love deeply, can feel joy, then we will demand that all parts of our lives produce that kind of joy.” – Audre Lorde
ReplyDeleteMy theme song is "Beautiful" by India Arie. It reminds me of the peace I want to have within myself and my surroundings. A beautiful place.
My RYL Notebook is pink (of course) with a purple whimsical flower. I got it specifically for this and it jumped out at me when I saw it. It also reminds me of that beautiful place.
My Mantra is: "Life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it." - John Maxwell
ReplyDeleteMy theme song is: "Nothing Too Hard" by Mali Music. I chose this song because I believe that through God I can do anything. "If the sky is the limit, that's too low."
My RYL Notebook is: blue and has a transparent cover. I bought this particular one because I like that I am able to see my Mantra through it. It's a constant reminder of what I want to accomplish.
My Mantra is: "The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you."
ReplyDeleteMy theme song is: "Pieces of Me" by Ledisi because you never know what a person is going through just because they have a smile on their face.
My RYL notebook is: Purple because that's my favorite color!
My Mantra is:"That which does not kill us makes us stronger." Friedrich Nietzsche,German philosopher
ReplyDeleteMy theme song is: "Stronger" by Kanye West because it mirrors my mantra 1, I've had a lot of things happen to me in my life, learned much from those that were older and I'm still here standing, stronger.
My RYL notebook is: Tan and Black, well made, with a little snap with an design on the front.
My mantra is something that took some time to come up with but I would say that it is Live Laugh and Love.
ReplyDeleteMy theme song is “There's Hope” by India.Arie. I can see she is a favorite among us.
My notebook is a basic composition notebook that is black and white. I have all of my thoughts, ideas, feelings, and inspirations. I have several of them because I keep filling them up with crazy ideas.
